ICAC widens scope to include Tripodi

FORMER NSW Labor minister Joe Tripodi will be investigated by the state's corruption watchdog, which has widened its inquiry into commercial leases at Circular Quay.

Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) Assistant Commissioner Anthony Temby made the announcement on Friday morning.

It comes a day after Mr Tripodi's former chief-of-staff told the inquiry her boss said he knew one-time Labor powerbroker Eddie Obeid had interests in properties at the quay.

"In view of the evidence that was given I should indicate that I propose now to amend the scope of the allegation ... by including ... Mr Tripodi," Mr Temby said.

The ICAC is investigating allegations Mr Obeid lobbied former several Labor ministers over leases at Circular Quay in which his family had hidden interests.
