Teenage girl robbed at armed man in Sydney

A TEENAGE girl has had her mobile phone stolen by a man armed with a handgun in Sydney's west.

The 16-year-old girl was walking along a path from Holsworthy Railway Station to Harris Creek Reserve when the thief jumped out of bush behind her about 9pm (AEDT) on Wednesday.

The man threatened her with a handgun and demanded she hand over cash and her mobile phone.

He then grabbed the teenager's phone and ran off.

The girl wasn't injured and later told her family who called police.

Police haven't been able to find the armed bandit and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
