The judges' passionate predictions of imminent international superstardom will be tested today when three X Factor runners-up release their debut singles.
Taylor Henderson, Jai Waetford and Third D3gree have been signed to Sony who kick off their post-show career campaigns with the original songs the three acts recorded as "winner's singles".
All three artists will face an uphill battle to wrest the No. 1 iTunes spot from Dami Im who has owned it with her actual "winner's single" Alive since Monday night.
Henderson and Waetford seem the most likely contenders with their songs Borrow My Heart and Your Eyes which were produced by local hit maker Louis Schoorl who has worked with Guy Sebastian and Jess Mauboy.
They were co-written by Hayley Warner who has become a go-to composer since her star turn on Australian Idol in 2009.
Third D3gree, who did not contest the grand final, will realise their dream to release their song Different Kind Of Love which was written and produced by Los Angeles duo Captain Cuts.
They have worked with our own Timomatic and Mauboy as well as Ellie Goulding and Britney Spears.
The releases will test the loyalty of the huge audience which supported the X Factor in 2013 and give Sony a clear indication whether the finalists have a post-show future.
The label did not rush out all the artists they signed from last year's season, preferring to take the time to develop younger talents such as Bella Ferraro who recently released her second single Forgot You, featuring the collective's Will Singe.
The X Factor Live tour featuring Im, Henderson, Waetford, Third D3gree and Jiordan Tolli kicks off in Newcastle on November 23.
