A MOTHER accused of murdering her baby daughter in the bath tub has appeared in a Sydney court wearing a cream silken tunic with a large red crucifix on it.
The 38-year-old woman, who can't be named for legal reasons, interrupted proceedings by telling Justice Megan Latham she wanted to discuss her strange garb.
"I want to explain the dress I'm wearing today," the woman told the Supreme Court on Friday.
"It's very symbolic to me."
Justice Latham told the woman it was in her best interests not to speak.
"All of this is recorded," the judge said.
"That's very disappointing," the woman replied.
"It's obviously not church," she added, as she left court.
The woman is accused of murdering her six-month-old girl by leaving her unattended in water in a North Strathfield house in November 2010.
The court has previously heard she may have been suffering an "abnormality of the mind" at the time.
She will face court again next month.
